Blind Spot Detection

Blind Zone Safety Assist consists of two active safety assist functions: Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Lane Change Assist (LCA), which are designed to alert the driver to vehicles that may be hidden or obscured from their sight when carrying out an maneuver.

Blind Spot Detection (BSD) alerts the vehicles in the vehicle’s blind spot.

Lane Change Assist (LCA) alerts for rapidly approaching vehicles on the adjacent left or right lane.

When the system detects that there is a vehicle in the blind zone of the exterior rearview mirror or a vehicle approaching behind in the adjacent lane while the vehicle speed exceeds 10 mph (15 km/h), the warning lamp on the corresponding side will illuminate. Parking Sensors

The MG4 is equipped with a range of parking sensors to allow for safe parking. The rear sensors are used to aid parking by playing audible sounds if an obstacle is detected.

If an obstacle is located within 1.5m range of the rear sensors or within 0.6m range of the corner sensors, the warning commences. As the car moves closer to the obstacle, the audible sounds are transmitted more rapidly. Once the obstacle is within a 30 cm range of the rear bumper, the alarm sound will merge into a continuous warning.

Charging Guide for the MG4

When making the switch to an electric car, charging is probably seen as the most daunting aspect, but it doesn’t have to be! It’s actually very simple once you understand how it works. This no-nonsense guide takes you through exactly what you need to do, and be aware of, when charging your MG4. So let’s dive in!

Public Charger

Public Charging

Public chargers can be easily located by using navigation system in the MG4, or via an App. We recommend installing Zapmap; their comprehensive database maps over 95% of all public charging stations across the UK, allowing you to easily find over 40,000 places to charge whilst on the road.

Zapmap can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, just follow the links below to install on your device. Once downloaded you can use the interactive map to find the locations nearest to you, or plan your journey with charging stops with their handy Route Planner.

When searching for a charging location, look out for the voltage output level of the charge point as this relates to how fast your MG4 will charge; the higher the level, the faster the charging experience:

Slow: With speeds below 6kW, slow charging can require 24 hours or more to complete a full charge. Convenient for short trips, but not practical for long journeys.

Fast: Achieving between 7kW to 22kW, fast charging can deliver a partial to complete charge in between 5-8 hours.

Rapid DC Chargers: Delivering between 22kW to 100kW, ideal for longer journeys requiring short stops to top up.

Ultra-Rapid DC chargers: The fastest way to charge an EV, Ultra-Rapid chargers provide power between 100kW and 350kW, allowing you to top up in as little as 20 minutes.

When you arrive at the charge point ensure you are using the correct charging cable before starting your charge session.

You are responsible for all charging costs, including any idle fees, when charging your MG4 EV at a public charge point. Europcar is not responsible for any additional costs that may be incurred if charge points are out of use.

Getting Going

With the instrument panel powered on, depress the brake pedal to enter Ready Mode, then select your gear (D to drive or R to reverse) and accelerate as normal.

Driving The MG4

When you need to slow or stop the MG4, the brakes are automatically applied when your foot is removed from the accelerator in a process called regenerative braking. This is where the motor converts part of the kinetic energy of the vehicle into electric energy, which is then stored in the high voltage battery pack.

Most drivers adjust to the feel of these driving aspects after just a few miles, but the braking mode can be adjusted so its more like a traditional petrol or diesel powered car via the infotainment system by selecting Car icon – Energy Recovery – Weak.

Turning The Vehicle Off

Once you have brought the car to a halt, keep your foot on the brake pedal. Using the electronic shift control knob, select P to apply the parking brake. You can now exit the vehicle, pressing the lock button on the remote key to power off. You can also power down the vehicle from the 10.25 inch touchscreen by selecting Car icon - Safety tab - Power off.

Connecting Your Phone

You must pair your phone to the MG4 bluetooth before a connection can be made. Touch [Bluetooth] on the Settings interface to enter the Bluetooth Connection interface, and turn on the Bluetooth switch. All MG4 models are also equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to allow for safe use of your mobile device when driving.

Charging Your Phone

You may charge your phone wirelessly if your model is equipped with this feature, and your mobile device is compatible. The wireless charging area for mobile phones is located in front of the shift control knob. The charging function is enabled when the vehicle is powered on. Place the phone face up horizontally in the charging area, which can be used for wireless charging. Alternatively, you can charge via USB using the ports fitted to the front and rear console.

Using The Sat Nav

You can easily access the climate controls by the control panel of the front console, and within the interactive display. Touch the System On/Off Button on the control interface to switch the system on or off, and adjust the controls to your preferences.

Voice Commands

Voice control can be activated in two ways: via the button on the right of the steering wheel or by simply saying “Hello MG”. The system responds with an acoustic signal or literally answers a voice command. For example: “Hello, how can I help.” The voice control function of the MG iSMART system recognizes more than a hundred voice commands. You can operate the navigation system, adjust the temperature of the climate control, play your favourite music, adjust the volume, choose a radio station, call a contact in your phone book and so on. You can even open or close the sunroof. And all that without sticking out a finger.

Adjusting The Child Lock

Open the rear door on the corresponding side, move the child proof lock lever to the lock position in the direction of the arrow to engage the child proof lock. Move the lever to the unlock position in the reverse direction of the arrow to disable the child proof lock. With the child proof lock locked, the rear door on the corresponding side cannot be opened from inside the car, but can be opened from outside the car.

Adjusting The Vehicle Lights
