Charging Guide for the Škoda Enyaq

When making the switch to an electric car, charging is probably seen as the most daunting aspect, but it doesn’t have to be! It’s actually very simple once you understand how it works. This no-nonsense guide takes you through exactly what you need to do, and be aware of, when charging your Škoda Enyaq. So let’s dive in!

Public Charger

Public Charging

Public chargers can be easily located by using navigation system in the Škoda Enyaq, or via an App. We recommend installing Zapmap; their comprehensive database maps over 95% of all public charging stations across the UK, allowing you to easily find over 40,000 places to charge whilst on the road.

Zapmap can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, just follow the links below to install on your device. Once downloaded you can use the interactive map to find the locations nearest to you, or plan your journey with charging stops with their handy Route Planner.

When searching for a charging location, look out for the voltage output level of the charge point as this relates to how fast your Škoda Enyaq will charge; the higher the level, the faster the charging experience:

Slow: With speeds below 6kW, slow charging can require 24 hours or more to complete a full charge. Convenient for short trips, but not practical for long journeys.

Fast: Achieving between 7kW to 22kW, fast charging can deliver a partial to complete charge in between 5-8 hours.

Rapid DC Chargers: Delivering between 22kW to 100kW, ideal for longer journeys requiring short stops to top up.

Ultra-Rapid DC chargers: The fastest way to charge an EV, Ultra-Rapid chargers provide power between 100kW and 350kW, allowing you to top up in as little as 20 minutes.

When you arrive at the charge point ensure you are using the correct charging cable before starting your charge session.

You are responsible for all charging costs, including any idle fees, when charging your Škoda Enyaq at a public charge point. Europcar is not responsible for any additional costs that may be incurred if charge points are out of use.

Locking / Unlocking

The Škoda Connect app lets you lock and unlock your Enyaq remotely when you are in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle and in possession of the key, allowing you to also lock the car with a simple touch of the sensor on the front handle after closing the door

Starting The Škoda Enyaq

To start the Škoda Enyaq ensure you have the key in the vehicle. Simply press the brake, then hit the start/stop button on the left side of the steering wheel. Once the vehicle is on, select drive (D) and you are ready to go.

Getting Going

In the Škoda Enyaq, the electric handbrake, used for parking (P), is located in the centre console where the gear selector would traditionally be. Just above it, you’ll find the mode selector, which lets you easily switch between reverse (R) and drive (D).

Driving The Enyaq

When you need to slow or stop the Enyaq, the brakes are automatically applied when your foot is removed from the accelerator in a process called regenerative braking. This is where the motor converts part of the kinetic energy of the vehicle into electric energy, which is then stored in the high voltage battery pack.

Most drivers adjust to the feel of these driving aspects after just a few miles, but you can adjust the driving modes to according to your preferences by using the recuperation pedals on the side of the steering wheel. You can easily switch between higher or lower levels of energy recuperation, allowing you to tailor the driving experience to your preferences. This feature, combined with a range of driving modes, ensures a smooth and customisable drive.

Turning The Vehicle Off

To switch off the Škoda Enyaq, bring the car to a complete stop and keep your foot on the brake. With all doors closed, press the handbrake with the “P” button on the gear selector to engage the parking brake. Then, press the START/STOP button to turn off the vehicle. Always ensure the vehicle is in park before leaving. Don’t forget to put the vehicle in park before you exit!

Connecting Your Phone

To connect your phone to the Škoda Enyaq, you can use Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or the MyŠkoda app. For Apple CarPlay, pair via Bluetooth, and follow the prompts on the infotainment screen. For Android Auto, open the MyŠkoda app, enable Bluetooth, and connect. With the MyŠkoda app, download it, insert the DataPlug into the car, and log in with your Škoda ID to control different features like charging.

Charging Your Phone

To charge your phone in the Škoda Enyaq, simply use the two USB-C ports located in the front for fast charging and data transfer. For a wireless option, place your phone in the Phone Box in the centre console, which offers Qi wireless charging and enhances signal strength for calls in areas with weak reception. This ensures you stay connected and powered up while on the go.

Accessing Storage

You can open the boot of the Škoda Enyaq in several convenient ways. First, you can press the button on your key fob to easily open or close the boot. Alternatively, there is a button located on the tailgate itself for quick access. For hands-free operation, simply move your foot near the sensor on the rear bumper to open the boot automatically. Additionally, the Enyaq features an automatically retractable load cover that moves back when the tailgate is opened, making it easier to load and unload items.

Using The Sat Nav

To use the sat nav in your Škoda Enyaq, start by tapping the search icon to enter your destination. Once you’ve inputted your location, the Škoda servers will calculate the best route, taking into account real-time traffic and road conditions. Press the “Start” button to begin your journey, and you can easily view your route by sliding the tab on the right edge of the screen.

For longer trips, consider pre-planning your route along with charging points to ensure a smooth drive. Additionally, you can sync your route with the sat nav for real-time adjustments as needed.

Accessing Climate Controls

To control the climate in your Škoda Enyaq, use the infotainment system’s touch-slider to adjust the air-conditioning temperature, or utilise the physical buttons on the steering wheel to manage air conditioning, recirculation, and temperature synchronisation for all passengers. The MyŠkoda app allows you to set your desired temperature before entering the car, start heating or cooling remotely, and schedule climate control for convenience.

Adjusting The Rear-View Mirror

Adjusting The Child Lock

The Škoda Enyaq’s rear doors are equipped with child locks to ensure safety. These can be controlled electronically from the driver’s seat using two buttons located on the driver’s door. You can activate the child lock on either rear door with a simple press of the button, preventing the doors from being opened from the inside. When the child lock is no longer needed, press the button again to deactivate it, giving you full control for peace of mind while driving.

Adjusting The Vehicle Lights

When the Škoda Enyaq is on, the AUTO lighting system activates by default, adjusting the headlights based on ambient light conditions. For manual control, you can adjust the headlights using the master light switch, conveniently located to the left of the steering wheel. Additionally, the Matrix LED headlights automatically adapt to bends in the road and reduce glare for other drivers by dimming specific sections of the beam.

Adjusting The Side-View Mirrors

The exterior rearview mirror glass adjustment switch is located on the instrument panel on the driver’s door. Rotate the round knob in the middle to select left ( L ) or right ( R ) mirror. Then move the knob in the desired direction to adjust the angle of the exterior mirror glass.

Make sure the wheel is set at a comfortable height where you can see over it, and the centre aligns with your neck. Once adjusted, push the wheel to lock it in place. Always ensure the steering wheel is adjusted before driving for safety.
